摘要

This paper presents a hybrid approach to clamping design in computer-aided fixture design, combining Case-Based and Rule-Based methods with K-means clustering. The proposed design approach enables automatic selection of a clamp based on parameters such as clamping surface, clamping type, and clamping method. The critical task of clamping selection is discussed in the proposed hybrid methodology. The function of the Clamping system is to hold the component in place against machining forces that would disrupt its dimensional accuracy. The Novel method adopted involves the stage-wise selection of a Clamp for the component under consideration, utilizing a combination of case-based and rule-based systems and K-means clustering. The stages include Component Classification, Clamp Type Selection, and Clamping Method Selection. The rules and cases are saved in the case base and can be retrieved when similar components are considered for fixturing.
