Boxless bus bar system for distribution boxes: a novel design for efficiency, security, and reliability

  • Ishant Jain

摘要

Conventional distribution boxes, with their bulky size, inefficiency, and susceptibility to security breaches, pose significant challenges for power distribution companies. This paper addresses these shortcomings by presenting a novel, patented boxless busbar system that revolutionizes distribution box design, offering a more efficient, secure, and reliable solution. The system's development employed a structured DFSS approach, strategically incorporating Design of Experiments (DOE) and Finite Element Method (FEM) analysis. This approach led to a unique design that eliminates the need for a conventional housing, resulting in significant footprint (up to 70%) and weight reduction (by 50%). Additionally, a conductive sheath layer provides enhanced security against to unauthorized access to busbars. In-house prototype testing successfully demonstrated the system's improved performance, including reduction in technical losses (by 6%) and safe operation under various load conditions. By implementing this innovative system, power distribution companies can expect substantial cost reductions (estimated at 65%), efficiency improvements (up to 15%), and enhanced security, setting new standards for the industry.
