Subventionen für „kleine Jobs“:

The Grohmann Lecture of 2023 deals with the phenomenon of “small jobs” in Germany. First, it explains the institutional and historical background of mini-jobs and describes the intensity of their use. Subsequently, the text summarizes the contents of three empirical studies. They deal with the question of whether (i) employers replace regular employment with mini-jobs, (ii) mini-jobs contribute to the “motherhood penalty” in Germany, and (iii) whether midi-jobs have facilitated transitions from mini-jobs to regular employment subject to social security contributions. The lecture concludes with a consideration of possible regulatory alternatives for “small jobs” in Germany.
