Purpose of Review <p>This review provides an up-to-date summary of the progression of technological advancements in cardiac catheterization laboratory (CCL) occupational safety.</p> Recent Findings <p>The field of cardiac interventions continues to grow with the revolutionary discovery of various new technology and procedural techniques. These complex procedures have led to prolonged fluoroscopic times and increased exposure to radiation for the CCL staff. Occupational safety in the CCL has been a major area in research in most years leading to novel technological advancements. Improvements in radiation protection equipment as well as radiation monitoring have led to high radiation protection and lower musculoskeletal injury risk for the CCL staff.</p> Summary <p>Radiation Exposure and musculoskeletal injuries affecting CCL staff are the among the highest occupational hazards in the CCL. Novel recent innovations in radiation monitoring such as the RaySafe i3 system as well as radiation shielding such as the Rampart, Protego and Zero gravity systems have significantly reduced radiation exposure in the CCL. These systems have been validated in recent studies when compared to conventional radiation safety equipment.</p>

Purpose of Review
