摘要

Purpose of Review

Sexual dysfunction is common in individuals with neurological disease and has an important negative impact on quality of life. This narrative review aims to describe the type and prevalence of sexual dysfunctions in patients with neurological disease and to highlight the specificities related to each condition developed in this paper.

Recent Findings

The latest studies confirmed the importance of sexual health for patients with neurological diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis and spinal cord injury. Unfortunately, the absence of information given about sexuality after a neurological event remains frequent among healthcare professionals. Moreover, data on the effectiveness of the therapeutics are scarce in these populations.

Summary

Information about sexual dysfunction is the first fundamental step in the management of sexuality in patients with neurological disease. A multimodal management with a multidisciplinary team is essential to consider associated secondary and tertiary factors.
