Purpose of Review <p>Patients with brain tumor related epilepsy (BTRE) represent a heterogenous group whose management is complicated by two distinct but interrelated disease processes. Current medical literature remains limited in its ability to guide an individualized approach to treatment. This review aims to present a holistic evaluation of the literature in BTRE with attention to recent scientific developments.</p> Recent Findings <p>The bidirectional pathophysiology of epileptogenesis and tumorigenesis is being targeted for potential treatment options, including repurposing anti-seizure medications. Broad recommendations can be abstracted from the current literature regarding appropriate pharmacological prophylaxis, the effectiveness of surgical resection, and potential utility of neuromodulation.</p> Summary <p>BTRE is most effectively managed when addressing the particular oncologic disease as well as epilepsy as interdependent processes. Treatment should aim to balance seizure control with adverse effects and quality of life. Future studies with a focus on this framework will advance an individualized approach.</p>

Purpose of Review
