Blockchain-Enhanced Corporate Governance: A Meta-synthesis Framework for private Sector
摘要
This meta-synthesis examines how blockchain technology reshapes corporate governance across private sector firms through a systematic analysis of 42 qualitative and mixed-method studies published between 2016 and 2025. Through a systematic and rigorous literature synthesis, 15 main categories across corporate governance dimensions were identified, providing a comprehensive framework for organizational analysis. The findings reveal a temporal evolution in two phases: foundational trust mechanisms and operational implementation (2016–2022), and critical evaluation revealing unintended consequences (2023–2025). The analysis uncovers several critical paradoxes challenging blockchain governance assumptions, such as the transparency paradox (42% increase in greenwashing despite enhanced ESG disclosure), Decentralization Paradox (centralized hybrid structures outperforming purely decentralized models by 37%), and DAO Governance Paradox (65% token concentration among top holders with < 10% participation rates). This study introduces the Blockchain-Enhanced Corporate Governance Framework (BECGF), synthesizing Agency Theory, Stewardship Theory, and Transaction Cost Economics to explain blockchain’s dual role as both a governance solution and source of new challenges. We identify critical boundary conditions that determine implementation success, including organizational readiness, regulatory environments, and stakeholder digital literacy. The results demonstrate that blockchain’s transformative potential is contingent rather than universal, requiring a careful assessment of contextual factors and potential paradoxical outcomes. This synthesis advances the theoretical understanding by revealing the paradoxical nature of blockchain governance mechanisms and provides practitioners with an evidence-based framework for navigating implementation complexities in private sector contexts.
