摘要

During the last 29 years, Service Profit Chain (SPC) research has gained the interest of researchers and practitioners as it proposes a theoretical framework that connects the internal and external parts of service provision. This study involves a systematic literature review of SPC research concerning all expansions and modifications of the SPC with an emphasis on innovative service design and delivery. Specifically, we analyze 32 papers published in the last 29 years in 24 journals. Results show that the SPC model is widely researched, and there is a variety of expansions and modifications in all three SPC dimensions made to ensure its effective implementation. Also, results are grouped into recurring themes in all three SPC dimensions, including managerial resources and capabilities, workplace environment, employee responses and outcomes, customer service value, customer responses and outcomes and business performance. This is the first systematic literature review of the SPC that includes all its expansions and modifications in a structural level that have been proposed and empirically tested. Theoretical and managerial implications as well as suggestions for future research are included.
