摘要

The influence of potassium (K) addition on the structure, hardness and wear characteristics of A319 aluminum alloy was examined. Various amounts of potassium (0, 0.03, 0.06 and 0.09 wt.%) were added to the A319 melt, and the evolution of the microstructure was studied by both optical and scanning electron microscopy. In addition, mechanical properties were assessed through hardness testing and pin-on-disc wear experiments. The results showed that K addition led to substantial grain refinement and altered the eutectic silicon morphology from a coarse, plate-like structure to a fine, interconnected form. The best grain refinement and wear resistance were observed at 0.06 wt.% K, which exhibited the highest hardness value (72 VHN) and the lowest wear rate (37 µg/m). However, increasing the K content to 0.09 wt.% caused porosity formation, reducing the hardness and wear resistance of the alloy. These results prove the importance of controlling the K concentration to achieve optimal microstructure and wear properties in A319 alloys.
