Crystallographic Texture Evolution During the Nucleation and Grain Growth Process in Metastable Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al Alloy

This study investigates the recrystallization behavior and texture evolution of cold-rolled Ti-15V-3Cr-3Sn-3Al (Ti-15333) alloy during the nucleation and grain growth stages. The microstructure after 80% cold rolling exhibited elongated grains and prominent shear bands (SBs), along with a dominant γ-fiber and α-fiber texture. Nucleation of recrystallized grains predominantly occurred along SBs and at severely deformed grain boundaries (GBs), with a preference for γ-fiber regions due to their elevated stored energy.
