Reductive Soda-Ash Roasting Behavior of Bayan Obo Tailings and Magnetic Separation–Acid Leaching Characteristics of Fe/Nb/Ti
摘要
Bayan Obo tailings contain valuable metals but present processing challenges due to their complex mineralogy. This study presents an integrated process for efficient metal recovery, involving soda-ash-assisted reductive roasting, followed by magnetic separation and acid leaching. The soda-ash reductive roasting behavior of Bayan Obo ore tailings, and the subsequent magnetic separation and acid leaching characteristics were primarily investigated. Under optimized conditions, this method results in a magnetic concentrate with over 90% iron grade and recovery, while the non-magnetic fraction is enriched in niobium (Nb), titanium (Ti), and rare-earth elements (REEs), achieving greater than 98% extraction of Nb and Ti through sulfuric acid leaching. This integrated approach provides an efficient solution for recovering valuable metals from Bayan Obo tailings.
