Curie Temperature Variation in Rare Earth Doped Spinel Ferrites: A Review

Curie temperature (TC) is a fundamental topic in magnetism that explains the temperature at which a ferromagnetic material loses its permanent magnetization. This temperature depends on the material’s atomic and magnetic structure and is important for an extensive array of applications, from industrial use to the natural world. In recent years, researchers have increasingly used rare earth elements (RE) as doping ions in spinel ferrite to change their structural, magnetic, and other properties. Therefore, it is necessary to summarize the variation of TC in rare earth-doped spinel ferrites. This review summarizes the variation of TC and tries to provide a general trend for RE-doped spinel ferrites. To provide an overview of the subject matter, a tabular analysis highlights the chemical composition, concentration of RE, sample preparation method, sintering temperature, and Curie temperature of the ferrites. We have also included some graphs to clarify the variation of TC with RE content. Our analysis demonstrated that the increment of RE ratio in a spinel ferrite led to a corresponding decrease in the Curie temperature. This review will become a valuable resource for researchers to get a basic idea about the variation of TC in RE-doped spinel ferrites.
