The healthcare system has been significantly transformed by the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI), which has enhanced the outcomes and streamlined treatment processes. Unlike traditional healthcare systems that primarily focused on treating illnesses, AI has enabled early detection and improved treatment strategies. AI, along with subsequent applications and algorithms, has facilitated early diagnosis and disease prediction, enabling timely interventions through effective screening processes. Currently, AI algorithms have also been employed in medical visualization of the data, resulting in enhanced image analysis and faster and more accurate diagnoses. The introduction of Electronic Health Records (EHRs) has significantly enhanced data handling in the healthcare system and made system navigation easy. Furthermore, AI is also being utilized in disease detection and the pharmaceutical manufacturing process, where it helps with drug design and discovery, and the incorporation of AI has also facilitated the predictability of medicinal interactions, precision, and drug efficacy. Additionally, integrating blockchain and AI has also yielded positive results, as it has improved data security and privacy. While AI has facilitated numerous advancements in healthcare, challenges such as legal and regulatory concerns remain and should be resolved. Collectively, this review precisely highlights the different aspects of the healthcare system following the integration of AI towards healthcare advancement along with comparative overview. Additionally, it highlights its importance and applicability while also addressing existing challenges and areas requiring improvement.
