摘要

Idiopathic hypersomnia (IH) belongs to the disorders of central hypersomnolence. It usually begins during adolescence and has a chronic course, but spontaneous remission is seen in up to 40% of cases. The pathology of the disorder and its prevalence are not well understood, since objective markers are lacking. Idiopathic hypersomnia is characterized by an increased sleep requirement with long nocturnal sleep times > 10h, sleep inertia, and chronic excessive daytime sleepiness. It is often difficult to differentiate IH from other forms of hypersomnolence. The psychosocial consequences are severe. No pharmacological treatment for IH has been approved in Europe to date.
