<p>Ryan Hart, a young survivor, was diagnosed and treated for a sarcoma on the right side of his jaw and received major surgical intervention with facial reconstruction and inpatient chemotherapy regimens for eight months. He then returned to college along with a strong desire to return to college baseball. Despite reoccurrence, subsequent high−risk treatment, pain, and other persistent symptoms following treatment, including physical facial changes, he continued his studies. Even with the many problems that he experienced related to his diagnosis and treatment, he continued his education and earned a PhD in Medical Humanities. He describes his challenges in detail with special focus on neuropathic pain. He also describes the various approaches he has used to manage several of his problems. Despite the persistence of symptoms, Ryan has continued to remain functional and determined to improve the quality of his life.</p>
