A Lightweight Haar Transform-Based JPEG Encryption Framework for Secure and Efficient Multimedia Transmission
摘要
JPEG is the most widely used standard for multimedia storage and transmission, making its security critical in domains such as forensics and journalism. Conventional encryption algorithms (e.g., AES) are not well suited for JPEG images, as they disrupt compression structure and format compliance. This paper proposes a lightweight JPEG-compatible encryption framework that integrates encryption within the compression pipeline. The method performs reversible substitution of DC coefficients using an integer Haar transform in the DC difference domain, followed by chaotic permutation using the Jia hyper-chaotic system. AC coefficients are permuted across blocks using a logistic-map-based sequence, preserving coefficient magnitudes and preventing overflow or underflow.
