„Die revidierte deutsche Version der Psychopathy Checklist (PCL-R) – zur Anwendung bei Straftätern mit Intelligenzminderung im forensischen Kontext“
摘要
The revised version of the Psychopathy Checklist (PCL-R) is frequently used in the context of criminal law and forensics in German-speaking countries for both diagnostic purposes and determining the further risk of delinquency. As current studies show that comorbid intelligence deficits often exist in the context of forensics, it is crucial to understand whether and how symptoms of intelligence deficits influence the results of the PCL‑R. To this end this article compares the PCL‑R results of n = 206 patients in detention according to Section 64 of the German Penal Code (StGB) with (n = 40) and without (n = 166) comorbid intellectual disability (intelligence quotient < 70) at both the factor and facet levels to enable a differentiated view. The intelligence quotient was determined using the Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale—Fourth Edition. The small sample size collected in only one forensic facility in Lower Saxony should be taken into account with limitations. An inferential statistical analysis showed that there was no significant difference (χ2 (7) = 11.37; p = 0.12) in the medians of the PCL‑R values between those with (Mdn = 25) and those without (Mdn = 23) impaired intelligence. There was also no significant difference at the levels of first and second order factors. Therefore, the use of the PCL‑R can be recommended without restriction for patients with intellectual disability.
