Comparative effect of liposomal and free glutathione on Saccharomyces cerevisiae resistance to hydrogen peroxide
摘要
This study compared the protective effects of glutathione (GSH) and liposomal GSH (L-GSH) against -induced oxidative stress with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. GSH and L-GSH were tested at different concentrations under stressed and non-stressed conditions. The measured parameters were cell growth, intracellular GSH, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and residual H₂O₂. In most of the tested conditions, L-GSH gave better responses, particularly during the early growth period and oxidative stress. Compared with GSH, the liposomal preparation was associated with improved growth and a more favourable pattern of antioxidant-related measurements. Taken together, these results indicate that liposomal encapsulation improved the practical antioxidant effect of GSH in this yeast model.
