摘要

Falcatusiblatta Liang, Shih et Ren, 2018, a member of the predatory cockroach family Raphidiomimidae Vishniakova, 1973 possessed autapomorphically long ovipositors during the Middle Jurassic. This character remained during the Cretaceous period, when modern cockroaches originated, with long ovipositors documented in Ensiferoblatta Li et Huang, 2023 (burmite) and Tayphoonoblatta Vršanský et al., 2025 (Jinju). The discovery of Cultriblatta gen. n. has changed our understanding: the ovipositor is extremely long, curved and without or nearly without serration, reaching twice the length of that of Falcatusiblatta Liang, Shi et Ren, 2018, suggests it layed isolated eggs within softer plant tissues. Therefore, the discovery of this new genus updates our understanding of the rare long-ovipositor-bearing representatives of Raphidiomimidae but expands its distribution range within China.
