Bioformulations: An emerging solution for next generation crop production and protection
摘要
A paradigm shift from chemical inputs to sustainable bioinoculants is one of the most required change for environmental and agricultural sustainability due to devastated effect of chemical inputs. Soil erosion, pest-disease resurgence, decline in nutrient quantity and ecological unbalance are the different vulnerable effects of the chemical inputs in agricultural system. Bioinoculants i.e. the formulation of the live microorganisms are known as a sustainable solution for the cropping system. Microbes are susceptible to various environmental stresses and have ability to enhance the growth and productivity of plants through various plant growth promoting mechanisms such as nutrients fixation, solubilization and chelation; production of plant growth regulators, antibiotics, and various hydrolytic enzymes. The microbial based bioinoculants may vary according to the types of the microbes and number of microbes used for the preparation. Bioinoculants may consist of a single microbial strain possessing specific plant growth–promoting traits, or they can be formulated as a consortium of two or more microorganisms that collectively exhibit multiple beneficial functions. In the present review, different types of bioinoculants, mechanism and role in the agricultural system are detailed.
