<p>Studying material recently collected in the Chaco region of Mariscal José Félix Estigarribia, Northwestern Paraguay, the authors found a new species of <i>Ylasoia</i>, which represents the second known species of this genus. The previously known species, <i>Ylasoia pegasus</i> (Wiedemann, 1828), is widely distributed across the Atlantic, Paraná, Araucaria and Yungas forest biogeographical provinces of South America in Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina. The new species is described and illustrated in detail, including the male terminalia and female spermathecae. It can be easily distinguished from its congener by its unique color pattern of setae and scales on thorax and abdomen, as well as the band shape and color on the wings. The results of this study include a diagnosis for the genus, an identification key to the Neotropical genera of Lomatiinae and species of <i>Ylasoia</i>, comments on the variations observed in the color patterns of bands and marks on the wings of <i>Y</i>. <i>pegasus</i> and a distribution map including all examined records (voucher specimens deposited in collections or observations published on the iNaturalist platform) for <i>Ylasoia</i>, together with a biogeographic discussion.</p>
