<p>A new genus and new species of the family Mermithidae, named as <i>Iranimermis singular</i> gen. n., sp. n. is described from rangelands in the Divandarreh, Kordestan province, Iran. It is characterized on the basis of morphological and morphometric data. The new genus is mainly distinguishable by its six cephalic papillae, adult and post-parasitic juvenile cuticles with cross fibers, head rounded, six hypodermal cords, mouth central, amphids cup-shaped in medium size, vulva with one developed lip, vagina S-shaped and elongated, spicules pairs and longer more than twice anal body diameter, tail in both sexes conical with bluntly rounded terminus and post-parasitic juvenile with a long tail appendage. It comes morphologically close to <i>Amphimermis</i>, from which it differs in the form of the spicules and median row of male genital papillae, amphids and vagina. Currently, the new genus is monotypic.</p>
