Nanoparticles-based biosensor devices developed for point-of-care (POC) analyses of c-reactive protein (CRP) as the clinically important inflammatory biomarker

摘要

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a non-specific but sensitive biomarker for diagnosing inflammation, infection, autoimmune disease, and cardiovascular disease risk assessment. The near-the-patient analysis of biomarkers, specifically CRP, as the valuable inflammation biomarker by point-of-care (POC) biosensors can significantly facilitate the diagnosis of disease state. POC biosensors are portable and user-friendly diagnostic tools for fast, simple, and low-cost biomarker analyses without laboratory facilities or experienced operators. Therefore, in this review article, we discussed available optical and electrochemical biosensors, specifically microfluidic and lateral flow assay platforms, with potential for POC analysis of CRP. Also, various signaling probes and recognition elements used in constructing these biosensors and their advantages and limitations have been demonstrated.
