<p><i>Musa balbisiana</i>, a species in the Musaceae family, is extensively valued in traditional medicine and recognised for its nutritional and therapeutic benefits. This review consolidates and summarises previous research on the pharmacological, nutraceutical, and conventional applications of <i>M. balbisiana</i>, alongside studies on its byproducts and their roles in food processing and preservation. A comprehensive literature search was performed using SciFinder, PubMed, and Scopus, including studies published till May 2025, to present an up-to-date overview of existing knowledge on <i>M. balbisiana</i>. The study highlights its potential and role in traditional healing practices, as well as its emerging applications in treatment strategies, nutraceuticals, and food industries. By identifying key findings and gaps across studies, this review aims to guide future research and underline the significance of <i>M. balbisiana</i> as a valuable natural resource with potential applications across multiple disciplines.</p> Graphical abstract <p></p>
