Investigation of the Interaction Character in the PbGa2S4-YbGa4S7 System, X-ray Structural Analysis and Properties of the Obtained Solid Solution Alloys
摘要
The nature of the chemical interaction in the PbGa2S4-YbGa4S7 system was studied and its T−x phase diagram was constructed using physicochemical analysis methods: differential-thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction analysis, microstructural analysis, as well as density and microhardness measurements. The PbGa2S4-YbGa4S7 system is a quasi-binary section of the quasi-ternary PbS-Ga2S3-YbS system and belongs to the eutectic type. The eutectic formed between the PbGa2S4 and YbGa4S7 compounds occurs at a composition of 40 mol.% YbGa4S7 and a temperature of 973 K. During the microstructural analysis, it was found that a solid solution region is formed over large areas in the system based on the initial components. The solid solution regions formed on the basis of the initial components were determined, and it was found that at room temperature the solid solution region of the PbGa2S4 compound reaches 15 mol.% YbGa4S7, and that of the YbGa4S7 compound reaches up to 20 mol.% PbGa2S4. The solid solution alloys (PbGa2S4)1−x(YbGa4S7)x (x−0.02; 0.03; 0.05) were studied by the x-ray diffraction and their lattice parameters were determined.
