Failure Analysis of Aluminum Cans Containing a Pomegranate Ginger Hard Seltzer-type Beverage

Aluminum cans containing a Hard Seltzer fruit-flavored beverage experienced deformation, cracking, and lid separation due to high internal carbon dioxide pressure generated by refermentation of the liquid, caused by the reaction of residual yeast with sugar. The canning was done without checking if the fermentation was complete.
