Ceramic-Bio Hybrid-Reinforced Al7079 Composites: Combining Boron Nitride with Aloe Vera for Performance Optimization
摘要
The current study uses the stir casting method to develop and characterize Al7079 alloy composites reinforced with boron nitride (BN) particles and aloe vera (AV). The microstructure, density, hardness, tensile strength, compressive strength, and impact resistance of Al7079 composites were systematically analyzed about BN and AV. SEM, EDx, and XRD analyses indicated that the uniform distribution of reinforcement particles improved the matrix’s bonding. In comparison with the unreinforced Al7079 alloy, the hybrid composites exhibited substantial enhancements in mechanical properties. The addition of 12 wt.% BN and 8 wt.% AV resulted in a 4.8% decrease in density, while the hardness, tensile strength, compressive strength, and impact strength increased by 38.4%, 41%, 28.6%, and 39.2%, respectively. Based on these findings, Al7079-BN-AV composites look like a good choice for uses that need high strength-to-weight ratios because they have both high mechanical performance and lightweight properties.
