Microstructures and Mechanical Properties of NbC-12Ni Cermets Strengthened by SiCw
摘要
NbC-12Ni cermets reinforced with different SiCw contents (0-4.5 vol.%) were prepared by microwave sintering, and their microstructures and mechanical properties were investigated. The result shows that the mechanical properties of the NbC-12Ni-SiCw cermet exhibited an initial increase followed by a subsequent decrease with the addition of SiCw, and were optimal at 1.5SiCw. It can also be found that the appropriate addition of SiCw is conducive to the uniform distribution of the binder and the refinement of the grains by changing the microstructures, so as to reduce the generation of pores and achieve the purpose of improving the density and mechanical properties of the material. However, excessive addition of SiCw leads to the creation of more pores, which causes a decrease in the mechanical properties of the material.
