摘要

In the present time, there is a growing need for technology with micro-joining for the adaption of lightweight modern technological devices. Thus, an innovative joining technology termed μFSW is used to fuse tiny wire and micromechanical parts simultaneously. μFSW has been successfully applied to a broad range of difficult-to-join materials. The process is highly economical and regarded as green technology. However, for producing small parts, modern combining systems have a special problem when it comes to fusing light and fragile objects. The latest developments in joining technologies regarding the mechanisms of joint formation are reviewed in the paper. However, this topic has yet to receive considerable attention in developing technologies for Micro-Friction Stir Welding (μFSW). μFSW tools are specialized instruments used in a precise welding technique primarily for joining small-scale materials. These tools are exceptionally important for precise welding, heat control, material compatibility, reduced defects, miniaturization, and cost-effectiveness. Overall, μFSW contributes significantly to advancing manufacturing capabilities, especially in industries, where precision, reliability, and miniaturization are paramount. An attempt is made to summarize the modern technological advancements in µFSW tools. This paper also intends to review the innovative tool materials and geometrical parameters for welding and explore the critical factors affecting the performance of the µ-FSW tool. An exhaustive review of the literature available on µ-FSW is depicted here. The variety of fabrication techniques used on µFSW tools is also discussed. Various kinds of welding parameters have also been studied to show the effect of the μFSW tool used during the stir welding procedure.
