摘要

In this work, the effect of magnesium addition and recycled time on the microstructure and mechanical properties of A356 alloy originally refined by Al-5Ti-1B is investigated using macrostructure examination, chemical analysis, and tensile test. Results show that the addition of Al-5Ti-1B grain refiner can refine the grain structure of A356 alloy and its grain refining performance is reduced with the recycled time, which is due to the loss of titanium and boron. Controlling the magnesium content at 0.3 wt.% can refine the grains in the recycled A356 alloy, but its grain refining effect is not very significant for the whole recycling process of A356 alloy. The additional magnesium plays a significant role in maintaining the mechanical properties of recycled A356 alloy subjected to T6 heat treatment process.
