摘要

This work investigates the effect of hot deformation on the wear characteristics and microhardness of three steel compositions, including Fe-0.55C-3Mo-10Ni, Fe-0.55C, and Fe-0.55C-3Mo. The tribological characteristics have been conducted under 20 N and 40 N loads at room temperature in dry circumstances. Moreover, wear tracks on sample surfaces were analyzed using SEM and EDX measurements. According to the results, the wear rate increased by an increase in the normal load; on the other hand, it was decreased by a rise in the deformation rate. Additionally, the addition of Mo and Mo-Ni also resulted in a decrease in the wear rate. It mostly occurs due to grain refinement and enhanced hardness, further reducing the wear rate caused by heat deformation. The introduction of Mo-Ni resulted in the expansion of the austenite phase. At the same time, the ferrite area shrank, and the production of martensite led to increased hardness and enhanced resistance to wear.
