<p>The present work reports the detailed dc magnetization and <sup>57</sup>Fe Mössbauer measurements on magnetic germanate ErFeCuGe<sub>4</sub>O<sub>12</sub>, crystallizing in a tetragonal structure with space group <i>P4/nbm</i>. Our magnetization results demonstrate a new magnetic transition around 12&#xa0;K, along with the previously reported antiferromagnetic transition at 20&#xa0;K. The different magnetic structure above and below 12&#xa0;K is further verified by its metamagnetic aspects in the presence of an applied magnetic field. In addition, <sup>57</sup>Fe Mössbauer measurements at 5&#xa0;K show negative quadrupole shift values and the possible explanation is presented in terms of its spin structure as reported from neutron diffraction in the literature.</p>
