Influence of Oxidation Treatment on Absorption Properties of Carbonyl Iron/Co Composites in a Corrosive Environment

The absorption properties of carbonyl iron/Co (CIP/Co) composites, with and without oxidation treatment, were investigated in corrosive environments. The microstructure of the CIP/Co composites was characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The polarization resistance (Rp), corrosion potential (Ecorr), and corrosion current (icorr) of the composites were measured on an electrochemical workstation. It was observed that the composites subjected to oxidation treatment (H2O2-CIP/Co composites) exhibited improved absorption and corrosion resistance. This study thus offers an easy and efficient method to improve the corrosion resistance of microwave-absorbing materials.
