Formation of Interfacial Voids Around Silica Inclusions in Si-Deoxidized Steels During Cooling
摘要
The sporadic occurrence of interfacial voids surrounding silica inclusions in steel has intrigued our attention while establishing Si-O equilibria in liquid steel. The underlying mechanism and the reason for its occasional appearance require further elucidation, considering its implications on the properties of silicon steels. Based on the present study, it was demonstrated that the interfacial voids at the periphery of silica inclusions were formed during cooling due to the polymorphic transformation in the silica phase.
