Effect of Shear Strain Reversal on Shear Texture in Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) Processed Aluminium

Both unidirectional and reverse accumulative roll bonding (ARB) of aluminium were conducted to generate a comparative through-thickness shear strain. Through-thickness texture was characterized, and the fraction of shear-type texture in stacked layers were calculated. The fraction of shear texture was correlated with the cumulative shear strain considering the change of shear strain direction. For the first time, shear strain reversal has been identified as another factor for the shear-type textural evolution in ARB.
