Complex Precipitation Behavior and Mechanism of NbC During Ferrite Transformation in a HSLA Steel

The investigation focused on the precipitation behavior and mechanism during ferrite transformation in a Nb-alloyed steel, revealing a diverse range of NbC morphologies. The presence of interphase precipitation in regular sheet planes with three variants was attributed to a higher interfacial migration rate, while the non-uniform sheet spacing of interphase precipitation increased as the phase boundary approached. A qualitative analysis using the solute drag effect (SDE) model may potentially elucidate the non-uniform sheet spacing observed.
