摘要

Endoprosthetic reconstructions enable limb preservation and functional restoration following tumor resection in the case of bone sarcomas or metastases. This article discusses various options for endoprosthetic reconstruction and highlights the challenges faced by physicians and patients. The findings are based on a literature review conducted in PubMed as well as institutional experience. Modular tumor endoprostheses permit good functional outcomes. Patient-specific 3D-printed implants facilitate joint-preserving resections and individualized prosthetic adaptation. In pediatric patients, growth prostheses help to prevent significant limb length discrepancies. However, endoprosthetic reconstructions after tumor treatment are associated with higher complication rates, particularly periprosthetic infections and material wear.
