摘要

Due to increasing cancer survival rates and the postponement of having children to later stages of life, fertility-preservation measures play an increasing role in female and male cancer patients of reproductive age. Various measures are available for fertility preservation: drug therapies; surgical options; and cryopreservation of oocytes, sperm, and germ cell tissue. Formulation of the correct indication is essential for optimal patient counseling and care. This indication should follow the German S2k guideline “Fertility-preserving measures in oncological diseases” [1, 2, 3]. The individual patient situation is also considered when selecting the appropriate therapy. Therefore, selection of the appropriate treatment strategy is based on the risk of infertility after completion of cancer therapy, the available timeframe, the patient’s age, the underlying oncological disease, and the patient’s wishes.
