This article in the Zeitschrift für Psychodrama und Soziometrie (ZPS) focuses on an analysis of the theoretical and methodological basis of nearly 50 ecological change seminars conducted by Marjut Partanen-Hertell (Partanen-Hertell and Kauppila 2026a). Earth systems on the planet are losing their resilience. Profound transformations are needed to secure the balance of ecosystems and humanity’s long-term viability as an integral part of nature. Transformative learning is essential for more conscious agency for sustainability. A conceptual analysis shows that Morenean processes and transformative learning include similar elements that enhance the transformation of learners’ attitudes and worldviews so as to enable critical reflection and change in agency. The analysis proposes that Morenean processes offer a relevant option for developing transformative learning and pedagogy for ecological and sustainability education.
