<p>This article in the journal <i>Zeitschrift für Psychodrama und Soziometrie</i> deals with transitional psychiatry—the psychiatry in the transition between adolescence and adulthood. It accompanies a&#xa0;time of upheaval and change in physical, mental and social processes. This transition can be understood as a&#xa0;“rite de passage” and accordingly divided into a&#xa0;pretransitional, transitional and post-transitional phase. For each of these phases, there are clear tasks for child- and adolescent psychiatry as well as adult psychiatry, which are to organise this time together with the patient and his*her system. Political demands result from the current lack of psychiatric care and demand an improvement in health literacy, the expansion of medical education, further education and training, as well as the financing and organization of care and research in this area.</p>
