<p>Following the approach of linguistically based language criticism which starts with individual words such as leadership or control, this article evaluates the appropriateness of the language used in German-language classroom management discourse. The general didactic norms of teaching with educational aspirations are used as a&#xa0;backdrop. Language criticism involves critical reflection on the views expressed in standardised language use. It thus includes criticism of the representation of teaching reality.</p>
