Wie entwickeln sich behinderungsbezogene Einstellungen im Verlauf eines Freiwilligen Soziales Jahres? Eine Analyse latenter Wachstumskurvenmodelle

In the context of inclusion, attitudes play an important role and the Voluntary Social Year is particularly suitable for promoting positive attitudes towards people with disabilities through the combination of personal contact experiences and pedagogical support. Against this background, the EFBI study (Attitudes of FSJ Volunteers towards Disability and Inclusion) surveyed N = 538 volunteers in a standardized way at the beginning, middle and end of their participation in the Voluntary Social Year. In this paper, we analyzed disability-related attitude developments using latent growth curve models and examined correlations with relevant personal and context-related factors. Our results reveal specific subgroups with varying attitudes which in turn remain relatively stable over the course of the year. More positive attitudes are associated in particular with a more positive evaluation of contact with people with disabilities. The concluding discussion focuses on implications for the promotion of positive social attitudes in informal and non-formal educational settings.
