Führungsherausforderungen in Wissenschaftsorganisationen: Alles ganz anders?
摘要
The present article, published in “Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. (GIO)”, draws on materials from the Leadership Academy of the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers to examine whether the leadership challenges faced by heads of scientific units differ fundamentally from those encountered by administrative leaders. The findings suggest that both groups of leaders largely engage with a similar set of issues. It is only when the interaction between these functions is analyzed within the broader organizational context that the well-documented tensions between science and administration, with their distinct underlying rationalities, become apparent. Leadership, by contrast, does not represent a dividing but rather a unifying domain: the shared exposure to comparable challenges fosters dialogue among leaders and generates constructive impulses for cooperation and mutual understanding within the organization.
