摘要

The theoretical contribution to the journal “Gruppe.Interaktion.Organisation. (GIO)” aims to explain why structural leadership is important for organizations and which risks a one-sided view of leadership as personal interaction entails. Therefore, it provides a brief introduction to the historically changing understanding of leadership in (psychological) organizational research. It examines the extent to which the changed conditions in the post-industrial economy affect leadership requirements and how leadership research is responding to this. It becomes clear that the focus is increasingly on personal factors. Case studies give reason to question this orientation. The article concludes with reflections on a revised understanding of structural leadership, suggests concrete approaches for this, and advocates for a mutually beneficial relationship between personal and structural leadership.
