<p>This article in the Journal “Group, Interaction, Organization” focuses on the “field-typical” characteristics of family run businesses. It identifies and explains the specific features of this type of economic organizations that evolve in the course of time through the co-evolution between an enterprise and the entrepreneurial family. The corresponding “familyness” of a&#xa0;variety of phenomena in the enterprise, such as the special ways in which organizational issues are treated in periods of growth as well as the practices in which everyday business cooperations are managed. This clearly shows the outstanding economic performance of this type of enterprise and at the same time under which conditions the very “familyness” of the enterprise would cause limitations to the necessary growth of the business.</p>
