<p>This article in the journal Gruppe. Interaktion. Organisation. (GIO) provides an overview of the concept of agility. Backgrounds of and drivers of the current trend towards agile concepts are explained. In contrast to the classical model of organizations characteristics of agile organizations are depicted. Based on this ideal-typical characteristics of agile employees, agile teams and agile leadership are portrayed. Agile frameworks and methods are explained. Against the background of the concepts presented, the opportunities, areas of tension and limitations of the agility concept are critically assessed from point of view of organizational theory.</p>
