Advancements and challenges in lithium-ion and lithium-polymer batteries: towards sustainable energy storage solutions
摘要
Lithium-ion (LI) and lithium-polymer (LiPo) batteries are pivotal in modern energy storage, offering high energy density, adaptability, and reliability. This manuscript explores the fundamental principles, applications, and advancements of these technologies, emphasizing their role in consumer electronics, electric vehicles, and renewable energy systems. While LIBs excel in energy density and versatility, LiPo batteries provide lightweight, flexible designs suitable for compact devices. Key challenges, including thermal stability, recycling inefficiencies, and material scarcity, are discussed alongside emerging solutions such as solid-state electrolytes, alternative chemistries, and advanced recycling techniques. The future of these batteries is guided by innovations aimed at enhancing safety, performance, and environmental sustainability. This review underscores their critical contribution to achieving global energy transition and sustainability goals.
