Enhanced electrical properties of spun blend polymer composite electrolyte PMMA – PVdF-co-HFP – PEO/ LiBF4 containing nano SiO2 for lithium-ion batteries application

Electrospun fiber nanocomposite electrolytes containing different concentrations of nano SiO2 filler and lithium tetrafluoro borate salt were successfully synthesized using electrospinning technique. Structural characterization was performed using different techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier – transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), Thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Scanning electron microscope (SEM) and Barrett-Joyner-Halenda (BJH) analysis. The sample containing 7 wt. % nano SiO2 filler (NFEC4) exhibited good thermal stability (high decomposition temperature), high total pore volume, and suitable pore diameter. The same sample showed high ionic conductivity (ơAC = 1.023 × 10–3 Ω−1.cm−1) at room temperature. A comparison with previously studied similar electrolyte systems was performed. The application results showed the good performance of this sample, making it a promising electrolyte for lithium-ion batteries.
