摘要

Currently, carbon dioxide valorization is one of the most promising topics among researchers; indeed, finding an effective and green way to reduce significantly CO2 concentration in the atmosphere is crucial to mitigate climate change impact in the next decades. In this work, CO2 has been managed to utilize a novel electrochemical electrode with poly xylenol orange film (PXOF) to form a PXOF composite besides PtCO alloy. The poly xylenol orange film (PXOF) and its composite were in-situ generated on a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) using electrochemistry via scanning the voltage between − 600 and 1400 mV at a ramp rate of 50 mV/s. The designed electrode including PXOF and its composite were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction, and cyclic voltammetry (CV). Also, the stability of the fabricated electrodes was examined via the Tafel plot and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) in the CO2 media. The fabricated electrode was applied to introduce an effective protocol for electrochemical reduction of CO2 using voltammetric techniques. The PXOF and its composite exhibited a promising strategy for detecting and then converting CO2.
