<p>Immunoadsorption (IA) is an important procedure in therapeutic apheresis used to selectively remove immunoglobulins and immune complexes from plasma without the need for plasma exchange. It is an established instrument for treatment of numerous autoimmune diseases in neurology and internal medicine, particularly in severe, treatment-resistant cases and as an escalation therapy. Key neurological indications include acute demyelinating relapses in multiple sclerosis and neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD), myasthenic crises and autoimmune encephalitis. In internal medicine, IA is primarily used for anti-glomerular basement membrane (GBM) antibody-mediated glomerulonephritis, systemic autoimmune diseases and in transplantation medicine, although the level of evidence varies greatly depending on the indications. As a&#xa0;specialized form of IA, ABO apheresis plays a&#xa0;central role in the preparation of ABO-incompatible transplantations.</p>
